Alpacas for Adoption

Elgar
Elgar was born on May 23rd 2015 so he’ll be coming up 9 years old in 2024. He is a brown colour, and has two distinguishing black spots on his back. He is very friendly and likes walking and is the most laid back member of the walking team. In the field with his mates he is a loner and doesn’t hang around with any other alpaca. His fleece is of a very good quality and goes into our nutmeg alpaca yarns aswell as our pillows. A very quiet and placid alpaca, he puts our customers at ease.

Isaac
Isaac is a lovely alpaca with a very gentle and quiet personality inherited from his mother Bianca. He was born in August 2015 and is one of the most experienced alpacas on our walking team. He has also won in show ring and was praised for his conformation and fleece uniformity. He has a large distinguishing moustache and hums frequently when out with our visitors on the walks. He enjoys his stud duties and fathered 4 of our 10 cria in 2023.

Jimmy
Jimmy is the oldest and most experienced of our adoption alpacas. He's a white 11year old and has a brown distinguishing spot on his front leg.
Jimmy is the experienced one who is cool in all situations. Jimmy's other love aswell as going out walks, is agility, and over several years now he's the one who enjoys a jump or two. Hes also very keen on carrots, the after walk treat.

Quaver
Lovely Quaver is 6 years old and is one of studs aswell as a key member of our walking team. His best friend is leader Bruno, so he always goes as number 2 in the walking line. Quaver loves to snuggle up to walkers when they complete their walk.
Quaver's mother is Enya, a distinctive grey colour and he is solid black. He has fathered Herbie our first cria born in 2023 who is a similar colour to his father.

Feedback from our Adopters
Our visits have been really enjoyed by our adopters. We had a great recommendation from Kate see below....
We really enjoyed our day at Yew Tree Alpacas. Many ‘adoptions’ give you very little chance really to meet your adoptive animal; however, this package seemed very well designed – I felt it would strike a good balance between keeping the alpacas happy, which is important, while giving my daughter the chance really to get to know more about them. The parcel sent out was fun to open and she enjoyed looking at the photos and the lovely sample of wool.
We were so lucky with the weather on that first visit – the farm was a beautiful setting with the sun out! We had plenty of time with the alpacas and a chance to ask all the questions we wanted. We came away feeling that we had really got to know more about these fascinating animals.
It was also nice to have the tea and cake offered and the chance to look at the knitted goods made with alpaca wool – all very tempting! We are really looking forward to coming back again in the summer.
Kate, St Albans
