Celebrate 10 Years of Trekking with Yew Tree Alpacas!

To mark a decade of alpaca walking, we’re hosting two exclusive anniversary treks in the stunning Hertfordshire countryside. Join us for a brand-new route from a special location, followed by a sparkling celebration back at our home base.

 

Choose Your Experience:

• Friday, 24th July: Alpaca Trek followed by a Sparkling Two-Course Lunch.

 

• Saturday, 25th July: Alpaca Trek followed by a Sparkling Afternoon Tea.

 

What’s Included:

• The Alpaca Trek: An introductory talk, safety briefing, and a scenic trek (1¼-1½ hrs) through the fields and footpaths around Stocking Pelham.

 

• The Treats: Mid-trek (or end of trek) refreshments and a chance to feed your alpaca some well-earned carrots.

 

• The Celebration: Head back to Yew Tree (Anstey) for your sparkling lunch or tea, featuring a glass of fizz (or Zero-secco).

 

• Take Home the Memories: Receive a sample of fleece from your walking companion and a special 10th-anniversary memento.

 

 

Location & Travel:
Please note that these treks begin at our special anniversary location in Stocking Pelham (SG9 0HT). You drive and park at this location. After your walk, you drive 10-minutes to our main Yew Tree base in Anstey (SG9 0DA) for your sparkling lunch/tea. 

 

The whole visit will be around 3½ hours.

(note the cost includes all alpaca and food and refreshments but does not include transport from the walk location (Stocking Pelham) to the YT base in Anstey). You park at the walk location first then after the trek you drive back to Anstey

Points to Note/Questions

Is it suitable for me or should I consider the alpaca stroll or walk experience?

This is an ideal option for those who have already been on an alpaca walk either at Yew Tree or elsewhere its a great opportunity to extend your alpaca experience.  If you have not walked an alpaca before, we recommend (but not essential) our shorter walk option first. However if you consider yourself physically fit and confident around animals then this trek may be just for you.  

 

Can you book for two people with one alpaca or only one-one?

There are two booking options; you can have your own alpaca for the entirety of the trek OR share an alpaca with a friend – you and your friend can take turns leading your alpaca during the trek. 

 

I have a child of 10 yrs and one of 12 yrs is this suitable?

If they have not walked alpacas before then we would recommend you book either the Alpaca walk experience or the Alpaca stroll. If they have walked alpaca and enjoyed it and are able to walk at normal pace then it would be fine to book the sharing option. For two children 10-15 yrs you would book the 2 sharing an alpaca x2. 

 

 

 

 Please note the following terms & conditions regarding Yew Tree Alpaca Trekking

 

We can take a maximum of 10 alpacas on the trek and a minimum of 6. If the bookings fall below 6 alpacas then we will offer an alternative date or your money back. When walking out in the countryside we have two Yew Tree personnel on foot at the front and back of the alpacas for extra safety and security. Please note although our walk allow children of 10yrs and above if your child is 10-12yrs and has not alpaca walked before we recommend you book either the Stroll or Walk Experience rather than the Trek. Any children 10-15 yrs must be accompanied by an adult and must be booked on the sharing option. Note if you book just 1 adult 1 alpaca option we assume you will be attending alone. If it is only you who wants to do the walk and your partner isn't interested to walk then you book the shared option and you do all the walking with our alpaca.

There are no facilities for people who have not booked to wait for another person whilst they trek. If you accompany them and you have not booked you will be required to wait in your car. There is no discount on the sharing price if the child is one of the pair Our all inclusive price includes the initial talk, advice and guidance on handling, the alpaca trekking experience  in lovely Hertfordshire countryside, refreshments on completion or during the trek (to be decided), a two course lunch or afternoon tea (depending on date selected) a glass of prosecco/non alcoholic sparkling, a sample of your alpacas fleece, a 10th anniversary momento On booking you will receive automated order confirmation by email within 48 hrs. Approx 5-7 days before the event you will receive an email giving the programme and info about what to wear and what to expect. If unable to attend on the day there is no refund/change to another date. However up to 2 weeks prior to the date you can change to another walk/activity for the cost of £10 per booking Cancellation 14 or more days prior to the event 50% refund. Within 14 days no refund. Please note the duration of the alpaca trek is approx. 1hr 15mins-1hr 30mins  on local footpaths and bridleways with some uneven ground. The whole event is approx 3.5 hrs. if you are a slow walker, unsteady on your feet or have an injury which impacts on your walking ability, then the trek will not be suitable. You must also be able to use both hands to hold the lead rope when walking your alpaca, if you cannot do this then the alpaca trek is not suitable for you. If you are not sure then please  either the alpaca stroll or alpaca walk expperience.
