Autumn Adverntures

On the 5th September we welcomed 6 alpaca enthusiasts to Yew Tree for our second Alpaca Adventure of the year. The day kicked off with a presentation jam packed full of fun alpaca facts and information about the history of our herd. The group also got the chance to touch and feel some unspun alpaca wool, different yarns and a variety of products all made from our own alapca fleeces.

After learning all about alpaca origins, characteristics and how to care for them the group started their tour to meet our herd.

Starting with the newest members of the herd our 8 beautiful baby cria's, who were very inquisitive and eager to meet the group. It was safe to say that our crias had completely won the hearts of our visitors and especially the youngest baby Kaspar, who was only one day old and as you can see from the photos was sporting a very cute coat. Our next stop was the girls, this gave the group the chance to meet alpacas of all ages and providing the perfect opportunitiy to treat the girls to carrots (they're favourite) and in particular Bianca and Manette were first up in the carrot queue.

We also stopped off to say hello to our boys who put on a lively display for our guests giving them the chance to view all of the different shades of alpaca fleeces from Joesph's deep brown coat to Jacob's snow white fine fleece and not to mention our little Dexter who is a light fawn colour and especially likes meeting new people and a cuddle!

After lot's of interesting questions and photo opportunities (not to mention a few bags of carrots later) the adventure ended with homemade cakes and tea and the group very generously purchased gifts from our alpaca shop to remember their day.

Thank you to all those who came and we look forward to welcoming more visitors on our next Alpaca Adventure on the 2nd January 2016.
