Last Saturday we travelled to Warwickshire to fetch little Columbia, a young alpaca we purchased from Limestone Alpacas in October last year. Columbia was born in June 2014 and was still suckling her mother when we bought her, so we waited until she was weaned 4 weeks ago before bringing her to Yew Tree.

For company, she travelled home with our alpacas Bianca and Sydney so joining her nine herd companions would be less intimidating.

Columbia is a lovely mid brown colour so her fleece will help to increase the volume of brown fleece for spinning into copper coloured yarn later this year. She will also be part of our show team attending several alpaca shows this spring – the competition will be tough so it’ll be exciting to see how she gets on.

I call these my magic socks.  I wear them whenever I need extra comfort because they always seem to be the right temperature and feel so nice and soft on my feet.  I was given the damson and green contrast day socks but I'll definitely be getting more as sure-fire gifts for family members and myself.  They feel lovely!
