There was lots of activity over new year at Yew Tree with two alpaca events - alpaca walking in the morning followed by an alpaca adventure in the afternoon. Although the Adventure is a regular feature of our programme, the alpaca walk is newer, with only one previous outing in July last year.
Six of our alpaca boys were each paired up with two visitors on our walk in the East Hertfordshire countryside.
Unusually for January the sun shone for our walk in sharp contrast to the day before when it rained continuously all day.
Jimmy and Alan led the way and the other boys eagerly followed enjoying the new and interesting surroundings- a nice change from their everyday field environment. Our visitors, all keen animal lovers, led the boys very competently across the footpaths. There were a few anxious moments when several dogs were close by, but having several of us on foot enabled any nervous moments to be quickly dispelled.
Our walk of approx. 45 min ended successfully with a group photo and our visitors said goodbye and helped take headcollars off before leaving. Hot drinks and biscuits ended a very successful first walking event. Our next event scheduled for 25th March! See more details here....http://yewtreealpacas.co.uk/shop/alpaca-activities/alpaca-walking
