We kicked off the New Year by welcoming 14 new visitors on the 2nd January for our first Alpaca Adventure of 2016. The day was a breath of fresh air after lots of Christmas and New Year celebrations, the group started the day with a presentation enabling them to learn about the origins of alpacas, the history of our herd and have the chance to feel a selection of fleeces and yarn. The group then ventured out to meet the herd.
As you can see from the photos the rain was very persistent most of the afternoon which made it very muddy in the paddocks however, the British weather did not dampen any spirits as the group thoroughly enjoyed meeting our 7 baby crias born in 2015 and their mums.
Amongst the group there were 4 children who loved getting up close to our alpacas and feeling how soft their fleeces are despite being a tad damp, they were also very excited to meet our boys who were ready and waiting in their shelter to welcome our new guests. After receiving lots of fuss and carrots the adventure concluded with some much needed tea and homemade cakes.
A massive thank you to our adventurers who braved the rain, we thoroughly enjoyed welcoming you to Yew Tree Alpacas and thank you for your generous gift shop purchases.
Details of our next Alpaca Adventure will be coming soon.
